Genocide of children is one of the greatest tragedy overlooked. I especially became affected during the wars in the Middle East. I happen to come across an image of hundreds of children heir naked bodies wrapped in torn sheets and they were housed in commercial freezers due to lack of burial space. That images tugged at my heart and always will. They are the true victims of the horrors of war. Yet, as the world makes progress humanity's animalistic nature grows like a virus! Those who take the religion and politics as a crutch are despicable. I pray for their safety. These children are deprived of simple joys of childhood. For a while, I had nightmares from the images that I had seen and painted several of these. One day my grand daughter saw one of my paintings and asked who is this girl? I tried to be diplomatic but tears were already rolling down her cheeks. I threw away most of them but have a few saved. How I wish and hearts of these people could be changed! I don't know how?
This painting is on a bed sheet. Universally, sheets are for sleeping. They protect us and keep us warm. A new born baby is first wrapped in a sheet before its first bath. Red flags are a symbol of hope and a message to the evil hearted that whether we are handicapped, old, young or women we will fight fearlessly for peace in the world.
The background texture is created with wax & dye. Rest of the art is with acrylic paint.
