RESIN APPLICATION Hot Air on Resin.mp4
Aruna Dolly Mettler
In this video demonstrates how to mix and apply resin. I cover the table with plastic sheets that the painters use. Available at any hardware store. It is important to wear gloves and a mask. Resin is mixed in a plastic jug. One can use large measuring cups as well. All tools should be plastic. After being mixed for two minutes, resin is gently poured on to the surface of the art. Tilt the art work to help the resin to flow to all areas of the surface. Areas that have not yet been covered by resin can be covered by gently dipping the foam brush from the surface that has resin. Apply resin to all four sides. Scoop up the resin dripping from the sides and let it blend with the resin on the surface of the art work. Fresh resin will blend easily when drips are applied from the extra resin.
Use a hair dryer or a blow torch after resin has been applied to get rid of bubbles.
I prefer to use the hair dryer just for a minute or two. The hot air will move resin in a direction you want it to. Be careful using the blow torch. It can melt your plastic table cloth. That happened to me once.
I baby sit my art work for two to three hours by checking the drips and reapplying them. If the drips are not scooped then they will dry and look like ice siècles. And are difficult to remove after the resin has dried.
